We've often heard the statement; "We become like the people with whom we surround ourselves." Bob Beaudine, in his book "The Power of Who" describes 3 types of people  and suggests that we safeguard our relationships by identifying these 3 basic types:

1. Draining: "This one is the most obvious. We all have at least one. These people just wear you out........The lingering effect this person seems to have on you is one of depleted energy. It just takes something out of you every time you deal with such people."

2. Neutral: "These are folks who really don't affect your emotional thermostat very much, if at all. ...........You like them,they like you, but that's about it. .........But the relationship is simply on a functional level"......

3. Replenishing- "Ahhh- These are your life givers. Generally speaking, there are just some people in the world who make it a better place. ......They bring relief and seem to brighten every room they walk into. On a more personal level, this could be your spouse or a close friend whom you love. Their presence is refreshing and stimulating. ........They bring out the best in you. Inwardly, your heart opens and moves toward your replenishers."

I guess it's a no brainer to conclude that we need to rid our lives of the "drainers" and surround ourselves with the "replenishers." And by the way, I think it's just as important to identify how we affect others and work at becoming "replenishers" in others' lives!
